Finally in the Chesapeake!

Ruby and I organizing all of the cabinets/canned food

We had a perfect trip up Delaware Bay, super calm, super warm, not a lot of boat traffic and NO lobster pots etc. We had a long day- 12 hours. We pulled into Chesapeake City, right at sunset, it’s very shallow. We went softly aground several times, but were able to push through and find a nice spot to anchor for the night. Cheshire City is in middle of the C&D canal, which is a canal that connects Delaware Bay and Chesapeake. It’s a very cute town, and we had a nice stop here. Next day we had a beautiful sunny and hot trip into the Chesapeake and partially into the Sassefras River. Had a beautiful evening alone in an anchorage. Today is a fun downwind sail for most of the day into Annapolis, for the Annapolis boat show, where there’s high hopes of meeting other boats with kids/teens. The kids were very motivated to get underway this morning, set the mainsail and hauled the anchor themselves! Freakin’ finally!

What do we do during these long dats moving the boat? Depends on the conditions, if it is rough then it becomes real simple. Just exist. Lulu loves to cook even when it’s rough so she’s awesome to go into the galley and cook whatever meal or snacks are needed in rough conditions.

Always kids are doing their schooling: all online or app based. Lulu is doing her freshman year classes mostly on Kahn Academy + extras like a writing course with real teacher but all online. Duolingo everyday but that doesn’t give credit so we’ve got to nail down a French credit course for Lulu. Ben works more than I do these days, he’s got a good “office” set up at the nav station. Once schooling and chores are done then the kids are allowed to watch TV or something brain-rotting.

I am still working for Groups (thank god!) work now reminds me of the high-covid days - a break from my family! I kept a small amount of work after I resigned from my regular position and I try to pick up more patients/groups in and around Ben’s work schedule.
The kids can run the boat but they get pretty nervous if Ben and I are both downbelow on Zoom calls…not quite there yet but we will get there🤞

Calm weather = crafting! People spread out all over the boat to get space. I love to hide up on the bow (less engine noise and wave noise) more and chat with friends/family on the phone but most of the time I’m at the helm. Ruby and I love to organize things! We have been slowly checking off areas of the boat! We have a great autopilot so we don’t need to physically hold the wheel. I can write these typo-ridden posts and drive at the same time. I can also prep my groups, read, listen to podcasts or just sail the boat- not too bad:)
