Night #1 of Storm over. Bristol RI 9/26/26

Thank you Tori Willauer for great earplug recommendation (Loop) and Emmy Mattei for the best sleep mask because I got some good bits of sleep on and off. Down below it sounds like a massive shit show up on deck but I checked all the important points this am and things look good - just sounds horrible. The main salon floor boards are creaking so loudly that it sounded like some giant was pacing all night…

The neighboring boat has 3 cats aboard so they don’t need to get off their boat and the other neighbor boat has 2 lab sized dogs so they’ll need to brave the elements to get ashore like we will have to do at some point. Pickles! Time to cross you’d legs and hold it!!!

We visited the Herreshoff Maritime Museum yesterday and it was very cool and BEAUTIFUL! One of the early America’s Cup boats 1886 was a live aboard couple who had a pet monkey named Sally! The female half of that marriage, Susan Henn was the first woman to sail in the America’s Cup. See everyone, I’m not the only pet freak out there!

Below decks on old yachts was only designed for wenches (women’s place is in the galley) so no head height for the important men…Or was this a female influence to keep the stinky dudes above decks?!?!

This boat was taken over for WWII duty, painted gray and it patrolled Narragansett Bay. After the war it was returned to its rich owner who had all the bright work restored.
